MBR

MBR combines activated sludge biological degradation with membrane separation, replacing the secondary clarifier with membrane modules for sludge-water separation. It can operate at higher sludge concentrations, and the effluent has low turbidity and can be directly used as feed for reuse or downstream membrane systems.

Process Principle

  • The biological section maintains a higher mixed liquor suspended solids concentration, improving volumetric loading and shock resistance.
  • Membrane modules perform solid-liquid separation, replacing the secondary clarifier and are not limited by sludge settling performance.
  • Membrane fouling is controlled through regular backwashing, aeration scouring, and chemical cleaning to maintain stable flux.

Product Features

  • The effluent has low turbidity, and suspended solids are almost completely retained, allowing direct connection to reverse osmosis and other advanced treatment.
  • High sludge concentration and a small footprint make it suitable for projects with limited land or requiring upgrading and capacity expansion.
  • A long sludge age favors nitrifier enrichment and provides relatively stable ammonia nitrogen removal.
  • Relatively low excess sludge production reduces the burden of subsequent sludge disposal.

Application Industries

  • Upgrading and reclaimed water reuse for integrated industrial park wastewater and municipal wastewater.
  • Treatment of high-concentration organic wastewater from food, beverage, and brewing.
  • Biological-stage treatment of refractory wastewater such as landfill leachate and livestock wastewater.
  • Modular treatment station for decentralized, small town, and scenic area wastewater.
