Cartridge filter

The security filter is typically installed at the inlet end of the membrane system, using replaceable filter cartridges to intercept fine particles, broken media, and pipe debris remaining after pretreatment, acting as the last physical barrier to protect high-pressure pumps and membrane elements.

Process Principle

  • The filter cartridge uses melt-blown, string-wound, or pleated filter media to form a depth filtration structure, retaining particles through interception, inertial impaction, and adsorption.
  • Use the inlet and outlet pressure difference to determine the degree of filter cartridge clogging; replace the cartridge when the set pressure difference is reached.
  • The filtration rating is generally lower than that of the upstream pretreatment, used to intercept fine particles that pass through.

Product Features

  • Effectively prevent particulate impurities from entering high-pressure pumps and membrane elements, reducing the risk of scratching and fouling.
  • Filter cartridges are easy to replace with low maintenance cost, making it a standard protective configuration for membrane systems.
  • Housing material can be stainless steel or engineering plastic, adapting to different pressure and corrosive conditions.
  • Equipped with inlet and outlet pressure gauges and a vent valve, providing intuitive operating status and facilitating inspection.

Application Industries

  • Security filtration at the inlet end of reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, and ultrafiltration systems.
  • Precision filtration of process liquids in the chemical and electronics industries.
  • Particle control in circulating cooling water side-stream filtration and water reuse systems.
  • Inlet protection for various pumps, heat exchangers, and precision instruments.
